Welcome to KSI Laboratories

About KSI
KSI Laboratories is an agricultural, analytical, and agronomic services company, which was formed in 1980 in Shelbyville, IL. The company was purchased by the current ownership in 1983. During the farm recession of the 1980’s KSI’s slogan was "Analytical Services for the Tough Times in Agriculture". During those economically difficult years, farmers used KSI test results to make sure they had adequate fertility to produce top yields while avoiding costly over application. If areas of a field had excess fertility, applications would be cut back to save money. This concept was the seed of current-day variable rate technology.

In the 1990’s KSI was an early adopter of GPS and Precision Ag Technologies. When the first Illinois variable rate fertilizer application program was initiated in Champaign Co. in 1991, KSI Laboratories was the supporting soil test lab. GPS grid sampling was first offered in 1992 with the availability of semi wide-area differential correction. Soon it became necessary to establish field offices in order to put our GPS crews closer to the widening area they were asked to cover. In 1995 the Woodson field office was established to better serve customers in west central Illinois and eastern Missouri. The Ridgefarm office for east central Illinios and western Indiana followed in 1998.

Today, after eighteen consecutive years of growth and one of the largest annual soil sample volumes in the U.S., the sixteen full-time staff at KSI Laboratories still operate with a company mission statement that is short and simple: "To provide accurate soil sampling and analysis, and a high level of customer service at a moderate price". If you would like to know more about the services offered by KSI or would like to offer comments please contact us as soon as possible. Your questions and suggestions are our best opportunity to serve you well.
